At this year's '2030 Beyond the Circle Circular Economy Innovation Exhibition,' we will showcase a diverse range of innovative practices and designs in the circular economy. The exhibition will feature major areas such as shared services, circular cultural creativity, and regenerative design, offering a rich interactive experience.
Firstly, in the Shared Regeneration Zone, we have created a space where the public, schools, and businesses can interact, promoting participation and innovation in the circular economy. For example, the 'Wanhua Big Ditch Second-Hand House' showcases concepts of old item regeneration, employment for disadvantaged groups, and community collaboration, offering an innovative platform for reusing goods. 'Boven' provides Taiwan’s first magazine-themed library dedicated to cultural creativity and design, reducing the need for individual purchases. Meanwhile, 'Dahan Furniture' offers furniture rental services, promoting a more sustainable lifestyle.
In the Circular Cultural Creativity Zone, we will showcase products that combine Penghu’s local culture with creative design, such as artworks made from leadwood, and necklaces and bracelets crafted from recycled metals and circular wood materials. There will also be an experience area where visitors can personally witness how waste materials are transformed into unique circular design pieces, highlighting the value of Taiwan’s culture and intergenerational co-creation.
In the Circular Regeneration Zone, we are specifically showcasing the low-carbon yarn production process, which utilizes fibers extracted from pineapple leaves. This process reduces water usage by 97% compared to cotton cultivation. Additionally, pineapple leaves, after undergoing regeneration treatment, can be converted into biomass fertilizer, preventing carbon emissions from incineration and increasing the economic value of pineapples. Each ton of pineapple leaves can save 2.4 tons of carbon emissions. The zone also features other regenerative products, such as mattress springs made from Taiwanese rice, pallets and floor mats made from recycled materials, demonstrating the potential for effective resource circulation.
The Sustainable Innovation Zone showcases regional achievements in local innovation, covering circular models from places such as Lukang in Changhua, Zhongpu in Chiayi, and Danei in Tainan. By applying permaculture design principles, the exhibition demonstrates how sustainable development can be integrated into everyday life, promoting a true circular economy.
Finally, the International Participation Zone brings together circular economy partners from Southeast Asia. For instance, Cambodia’s 'Trash is Nice' is dedicated to promoting plastic recycling and environmental education, offering workshops and design activities that allow community members to experience plastic regeneration firsthand. The zone also features creative design works from Thailand and Vietnam, showcasing circular economy models from different cultural perspectives.
This exhibition will take place from September 25th to 28th in the main lobby of Taipei Station. We look forward to your participation as we work together to advance the circular economy and achieve the 2030 net-zero emissions goal.
