COMPUTEX 2024 has concluded successfully, rising to become a global hub for AI technology. Tech giants elevated each other, attracting over 80,000 attendees.

COMPUTEX 2024, the Taipei International Computer Show, concluded successfully today (7th). This year’s event saw significant growth, with a total of 85,179 attendees from the ICT industry, including buyers and professionals, over the four-day exhibition period. The top ten visitor countries/regions were Japan, the United States, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines. As a leading exhibition for AIoT and emerging industries globally, COMPUTEX 2024 centered on the theme "Connecting AI" and successfully attracted world-class buyers to the annual tech industry event, making Taiwan the focus of international attention.

COMPUTEX showcased a vibrant array of innovations, with vendors flexing their cutting-edge technological muscle

IDC predicts that AI PCs will account for nearly 60% of global PC shipments by 2027. In the AI computing and system solutions sector, vendors showcased the latest AI product applications. Acer and ASUS each unveiled their first Copilot+ PCs—Acer's Swift 14 AI laptop and ASUS's Vivobook S 15—transforming the PC industry with AI technology and inspiring new innovations. The application of smart technology in various fields is burgeoning, with numerous automotive-related displays appearing in this year's newly added smart mobility section. For example, the Taiwan Advanced Automotive Technology Development Association (TADA) gathered major companies like Hon Hai Precision Industry, VST Electronics, and REXX Technology to set up an automotive technology pavilion, showcasing comprehensive smart cockpit solutions.

In the Advanced Communications and Networking Products section, Taiwan's leading role and strength in pioneering communication technologies were evident. For example, ASRock and ASUS collaborated to create a 5G enterprise network solution and service using Microsoft's Azure dedicated 5G core. Meanwhile, Pride demonstrated the industry's first cross-protocol energy smart management system, the "AIoT Application Management Platform (NMS-AIoT)." On the other hand, the metaverse is also a rapidly developing technology field. In the esports and metaverse application area, Seezentech showcased wearable eye-tracking technology within augmented reality devices, enhancing the overall immersive experience. Additionally, Aemass, a Silicon Valley XR/AI startup, presented cutting-edge technology for providing real content for XR through its portable single-lens 3D recording system and globally patented 3D cloud mapping and AI algorithms at COMPUTEX this year.

Tech giants gathered at COMPUTEX, with lively interactions both inside and outside the venue

Dr. Lisa Su, Chairwoman and CEO of AMD, kicked off COMPUTEX 2024 with a keynote at the Foreign Trade Association’s event. Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, MediaTek Vice Chairman and CEO Cai Lixing, Supermicro President and CEO Charles Liang, NXP Semiconductor Executive VP and CTO Lars Reger, and Delta Research Institute President Kuei-Chung Chiu, among other industry giants, shared their insights on leveraging key technologies to add value to industries and shape the future of AI. In addition to the aforementioned speakers, each presenter also invited industry partners from various fields to discuss technological advancements and their impacts. AMD invited ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih and HP CEO Enrique Lores to share the stage, Intel featured ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih and Acer Chairman Jason Chen, and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang made a surprise appearance on the Supermicro and MediaTek stages. This created a “CEO gathering effect” that made the keynote even more star-studded.

The COMPUTEX Forum was also a star-studded event, with the Foreign Trade Association inviting global technology industry leaders to collectively outline the future of AI. This year’s COMPUTEX Forum, themed “Let’s Talk Generative AI,” brought together nine domestic and international experts who delved deeply into the AI supply chain, providing technological insights and revealing industry opportunities. Global tech leaders not only shared the latest technology and industry trends at COMPUTEX 2024 but also engaged in lively interactions and exchanges with their ecosystem partners outside the venue, advancing collaboration possibilities and co-creating technological development and innovative applications.

The number of exhibiting countries reached a new high, with InnoVEX showcasing global innovation momentum.

This year, the number of exhibiting countries at the InnoVEX innovation and startup zone reached a record high. In addition to showcasing innovative startups and teams, the exhibition featured pavilions from seven countries and major acceleration and incubation units. Startups and teams demonstrated exceptional creativity, applying AI technology across diverse fields such as healthcare, manufacturing, sports, pets, and travel. For instance, Peddy Sustainable Technology developed an intelligent sorting system using near-infrared spectroscopy and AI technology, while DeepRad.AI drove innovative applications in medical imaging with AI. Additionally, the ASPN Sports Tech Accelerator, Asia’s first sports technology innovation accelerator, and Garage+ showcased AI applications in sports technology and data processing. StarFab Accelerator, Taiwan's largest industry accelerator, gathered startups focused on AIoT, 5G, XR, and other fields, highlighting Taiwan's leading position in technological innovation.

This year’s InnoVEX startup competition Grand Prize was awarded to Taiwan-based Kimiwa Water Cycle Materials Technology Co., Ltd. Their “Kimiwa High-Activity Recycled Rubber Powder” can convert waste tires into high-activity, high-value recycled rubber materials, closely aligning with the industry's demand for sustainable recycling.

COMPUTEX introduced the Sustainability Design Award for the first time, promoting green transformation and cross-industry collaboration to make technology more human-centered.

The inaugural “Sustainable Design Award” was held this year, with BenQ Group winning the Gold Award, ASUS and Acer sharing the Silver Award, and Transcend Information and Wistron NeWeb receiving the Special Judge’s Award. Exhibitors demonstrated the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) concept through their booth designs and activities, seamlessly integrating sustainability into the exhibition and advancing the green transformation of the industry and the event.

Technology creates infinite possibilities. COMPUTEX 2024 showcased diverse cross-industry collaborations, such as the Micro Heat Hill Hospitality Lounge, designed to the specifications of a physical store and offering guests hot tea and pineapple cakes, reflecting Taiwan's hospitable spirit. The collaboration between plain-me and Kuo Kuo, which produced co-branded products, also received widespread acclaim, allowing guests from both domestic and international arenas to experience the unique charm of Kuo Kuo.

COMPUTEX 2025 is scheduled to take place from May 20 to May 23, 2025. It will continue to expand the technology ecosystem with global tech companies. For the latest updates on the exhibition, please stay tuned to the official website https://www.computextaipei.com.tw/zh-tw/index.html
